The Brandenburg Basketball Association e. V. (BBV) is the umbrella organization for basketball clubs and sports clubs with basketball departments in Brandenburg .

history

The Brandenburg Basketball Association was founded in Bernau on May 26, 1990 , and Bernd Möbius took over the position of first chairman in the history of the association. The inaugural meeting in the Bernauer restaurant Am Steintor was attended by representatives of the Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam district committees, as well as representatives of the West German Basketball Association and the Berlin Basketball Association as guests .

From 2003 to 2013, Carsten Preuss was BBV Chairman, who was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Federation on the occasion of his departure from office and was appointed BBV Honorary President. Christian Pinnow from Eisenhüttenstadt became Preuss' successor . In April 2015, the delegates elected Rico Witschas from Cottbus as the new chairman of the Brandenburg Basketball Association at the Association Day .

As of January 1, 2018, the BBV had 2,473 members.

Game operation

The flagships of the Brandenburg Basketball Association include the SSV Lokomotive Bernau and RSV Eintracht clubs .

The highest divisions at the association level are the upper league women and the upper league men.

The BBV has service bases in Bernau, Stahnsdorf and Cottbus.
