The Basketball Association Mecklenburg / Vorpommern e. V. (BVMV) is the umbrella organization for basketball clubs and sports clubs with basketball departments in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
history
The Mecklenburg / Western Pomerania basketball association was founded on October 24, 1990 in Rostock , and Klaus-Dieter Lehmann was elected chairman at the founding meeting.
André Jürgens was BVMV chairman from 2010 to June 2015 , before he was succeeded by the previous vice-president, instructor and coach Daniel Havlitschek.
At the end of 2017, the EBC Rostock, a member club of the BVMV, was ranked fifth among the largest clubs in Germany of the German Basketball Federation ( the criteria were the participant IDs ).
In August 2018, the BVMV agreed on a closer cooperation with the EBC Rostock than before in order to better promote young players from all over the state.
Tasks and structure
According to the statutes, the BVMV understands “the development, promotion and maintenance of basketball in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania” as its purpose. This is to be achieved in particular by promoting both popular and competitive sports.
In 2018, the Mecklenburg / Western Pomerania basketball association had 1,725 members according to the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Sports Association. In 2011 there were 544 members.
