The Basketball Association of Saxony e. V. (BVS) is the umbrella organization for basketball clubs and sports clubs with basketball departments in the Free State of Saxony .

history

Dietmar Noack became the first president of the association after it was founded in 1990.

In 2007 Manfred Haupt from Dresden became BVS chairman.

As of January 2013, the association had 3,638 members, in January 2015 there were 3,899 and in January 2017 4,328.

structure

The basketball association of Saxony is represented by the president and his two vice-presidents, and the board also includes a youth warden, an instructor and a referee. The Chamber of Justice, the Referee Commission, the Teaching and Coaching Commission, the Youth Commission and the Sports Commission are responsible for individual areas of responsibility.

Below the BVS, the association structure is divided into the Basketball Spielbetrieb Dresden e. V., the Chemnitzer Basketball Organization e. V. and the Basketball Spielbetrieb Leipzig e. V. In Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig there are regional and junior trainers for the association.

Game operation

The top division of the Basketball Association of Saxony in the adult division is the upper league for women and men.

In the youth performance area, the BSV is involved in the Mitteldeutsche Liga Basketball (MDL) together with the Thuringian Basketball Association and the Basketball Association of Saxony-Anhalt , which considers it to be an "additional instrument for promoting young talent in Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia" becomes.
