The Bavarian Basketball Association e. V. (short: BBV) is the umbrella organization of basketball clubs and sports clubs with basketball departments in the Free State of Bavaria . The BBV is based in Munich .

history

The Bavarian Basketball Association was founded in 1949, the first chairman was Josef Regiert. From 2003 to 2015 Winfried Gintschel was BBV Chairman and was appointed Honorary President after he left office. His successor was Robert Daumann . Bastian Wernthaler was elected BBV Chairman in May 2019 .

Districts and Members

The BBV is divided into six districts: Lower Franconia, Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia, Upper Palatinate, Swabia and Upper Bavaria.

According to the Bavarian State Sports Association, the BBV has 41,830 members and 451 member clubs (as of the end of 2017).
