The Basketball Association Schleswig-Holstein e. V. (short: BVSH) is the umbrella organization of basketball clubs and sports clubs with basketball departments in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The Schleswig-Holstein basketball association was founded on September 9, 1967 in the Holstentor-Klause restaurant in Lübeck . The first chairman of the new association was Hans Hugo Jöns. Hermann Homfeldt was BVSH President until 1998, then Markus Hellwich from 1998 to 2010 , who was appointed Honorary President in 2011.

The current BVSH chairman is Holger Franzen (since 2010). Honorary presidents of the association are Hans-Hermann Sohnrey and Hermann Homfeldt.

structure

The top division of the BVSH in the adult division is the Oberliga. The state cup competition is called the BVSH Cup.

A special feature concerns several clubs from the greater Hamburg area, which geographically and politically belong to the federal state Schleswig-Holstein, but are not members of the BVSH, but of the Hamburg Basketball Association . These include the Ahrensburger TSV , the Elmshorner MTV, the BG Halstenbek / Pinneberg, the TuRa Harksheide , the basketball club Quickborn, the TSV Uetersen , the SC Rist Wedel .

Youth work

According to the BVSH statutes, the purpose of the association is "the promotion and maintenance of basketball in all its variants in the state of Schleswig-Holstein with special consideration of youth care work."

For nationwide viewing events, the Schleswig-Holstein basketball association forms a game community with the regional associations from Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
