Udo Sopp

Udo Sopp (born December 5, 1934 in Wuppertal - Barmen ) is a German Protestant clergyman and football official.

Sopp studied Protestant theology from 1954 to 1959 at the Universities of Mainz, Heidelberg, Utrecht and Basel. From 1962 to 1964 he was a vocational school pastor in Pirmasens , then parish pastor in Rodalben (until 1970) and at the Apostle Church in Kaiserslautern. From 1977 to 1999 he held the office of public relations officer and press spokesman for the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate in Speyer. After his retirement, Sopp lives in Kaiserslautern again . Sopp is married and has four sons.

Public functions

  • From 1973 to 1981 he served as Vice President, thereafter
  • From 1981 to 1985 as president of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
  • From October 1, 1998 to the end of January 2003, he was chairman of the television committee of the broadcasting council of Südwestfunk (today Südwestrundfunk).
