The Uetersener Klosterrose is a modern climbing rose from Rosen Tantau . Their name honors the Cistercians , the co-founders of the Uetersen monastery , one of the most important cultural monuments in Schleswig-Holstein . It was introduced and baptized in July 2006 in Uetersen . Its name is said to remind of the symbolic power that the Cistercians ascribed to the rose. She was consecrated to the Virgin Mary and the epitome of the divine mystery.
It is a frequent flowering, multi-shoot climbing rose, with an upright and broad, bushy habit. With good conditions and care, it can reach a height of three meters. The flower is ball-shaped and cream-colored, it also has a yellow stamen. Due to the shape of the flower, it is reminiscent of the robber baron rose . It spreads a pleasant, mild, sometimes sweet, wild rose scent . The rose leaves are mostly dark green.
The Uetersener monastery rose is frost hardy to −23 ° C ( USDA zone 6 ). The rose is considered to be very easy to care for and has a high resistance to pests .
