Uffa Jensen

Uffa Jensen (* 1969 in Husby , Flensburg-Land district ) is a German historian .

Life

Uffa Jensen studied history and philosophy in Kiel , Jerusalem , at the Technical University of Berlin and Columbia University in New York. In 2003 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin under Reinhard Rürup and Werner Bergmann . His dissertation on the relationship between bourgeois Jews and Protestants in the 19th century was rated “summa cum laude” and was published in 2005 under the title “Educated doppelgangers. Bourgeois Jews and Protestants in the 19th Century ”.

In 2003 Jensen worked as a research assistant at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen at the chair of Bernd Weisbrod , and then from 2003 to 2007 he taught and researched as a DAAD specialist lecturer at the University of Sussex in Great Britain. He then returned to the University of Göttingen in 2008–2010, where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Graduate School “Generational History”. During this time he published on German-Jewish history, the history of anti-Semitism and the history of generations. From 2010–2017 he worked as a research assistant in the “History of Emotions” department, which Ute Frevert heads at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin . There he wrote a habilitation thesis on the transnational history of psychoanalysis in Berlin, London and Calcutta, with which he received his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin at the end of 2016 . In 2018 he received a Heisenberg research professorship from the German Research Foundation at the TU Berlin.

Jensen regularly comments on current political issues, for example in From Politics and Current Affairs , Time , the Left Young World or the bourgeois Tagesspiegel .
