Ugo Bardi (born May 23, 1952 in Florence ) is an Italian chemist and professor of physical chemistry at the University of Florence .

Academic career and work

Bardi studied chemistry at the University of Florence and graduated in 1976 with the Laurea . From 1976 to 1977 he worked as a postdoc at the State University of New York , from 1977 to 1979 as an assistant at the University of Aix-Marseille . From 1980 to 1982 he was also employed as a postdoc at the University of Berkeley . He later returned to the University of Florence, where he became a professor in chemistry.

Together with Charles Hall, Bardi is editor-in-chief of the 2016 new edition of the journal BioPhysical Economics and Resource Quality , former editor-in-chief of Frontiers in Energy Systems and Policy and a member of the Club of Rome . He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of ASPO and founder of its Italian department.

Bardi's “Seneca Effect” model describes a situation in which the decline of a production is faster than its increase before.

Trivia

Bardi runs his own blog in English and Italian.
