Location of Pesac in Timiș County

Pesac (German: Pesak , Hungarian: Pészak , Pésznack ) is a municipality in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in southwest Romania .

Geographical location

Pesac is located in the northwest of Timiș County, 25 km east of Sânnicolau Mare and 44 km northwest of Timișoara , on the DJ692 Lovrin - Periam county road .

history

In 1399 the place appears for the first time in a Hungarian document under the name "Puerseegh". In 1426 he was mentioned under the name "Pwrsegh" and in 1549 he was called "Persek". In 1768 Romanians came to Pesak from the neighboring Sânpetru Sârbesc (today: Sânpetru Mare ). 1774 was "Pesak, a Wallachian village".

In 1799 the landlord Bayzath brought 62 families Romanian serfs from the area around Sibiu . Later his brother brought German colonists from the surrounding villages.

On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Pesak also belonged, fell to the Kingdom of Romania .

Until 2007 Pesac belonged administratively to the municipality of Periam . Pesac has been an independent municipality since 2007.
