Ohaba Lungă (German: Ohabalunga , Hungarian: Hosszúszabadi ) is a municipality in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in southwest Romania . The villages of Dubeşti , Ierşnic and Ohaba Română also belong to the municipality of Ohaba Lungă .

Geographical location

Ohaba Lungă is located in the northeast of Timiș County, on county road 609, 28 kilometers from Lugoj and 88 kilometers from Timișoara .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1440. In 1447 the estate was owned by Nikolaus Banfy and belonged to the Arad district . Later Ohaba Lungă belonged to Timiș County, then to Hunedoara County . In the 17th century the place appears under the name Olah-Ohaba , in 1810 it was called Ohaba Rumunyaska . At the beginning of the 19th century, the place appears under the names Rumunyast (1828 and 1851) and Hosszúzbadi (1878).

After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Ohaba was part of the Temescher Banat .

On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Ohaba also belongs, fell to the Kingdom of Romania . Since then, Ohaba Lungă has been the official name.
