Foeni (German: Föen , Hungarian: Fény , Serbian: Venj , Fenj ) is a municipality in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in southwest Romania . The village of Cruceni also belongs to the municipality of Foeni .
Geographical location
Foeni is located in the southwest of the Timiṣ County, on the border with Serbia , 42.1 kilometers from Timișoara and 39.9 kilometers from Deta . Foeni is located at Drum național 59B Cărpiniș –Deta.

history
There was a fort called Castrum Bacaucis here as early as Roman times . In the Middle Ages, a battle between the Kingdom of Hungary and the Bulgarian voivode Glad, who led the Pechenegs , Wallachians and Bulgarians , took place in Vadum Arenarum near Foeni on the Temesch .
Documented was Föen 1289 first mentioned when the Hungarian King Ladislaus III. held the Reichstag here. In the 18th century Foeni was owned by the Hungarian aristocratic Mocsonyi family and in 1400 by the Chaak family (also Ksaky / Ksaki).
On the Josephine land survey of 1717, the place Foen was registered. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Foen was part of the Temescher Banat .
On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Foeni also belongs, fell to the Kingdom of Romania . Since then, the official name of the place has been Foeni.
