history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1332 under the name Legvid . During the Turkish rule (1590) the name Ligit appeared. At the time of the Habsburg Monarchy (1761) Lighed and Temeslighed (Hungarian: Lighed = wood) were mentioned with 312 chimneys. Lighet belonged to Temes County , Ciacova district in 1870 . In 1890 Lighet was the seat of the parish.
On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Lighet also belonged, fell to the Kingdom of Romania . As a result of the agrarian reform of 1921, the dispossessed residents of Lighet were given 500 yoke pastureland. The land reform law of March 23, 1945 , which provided for the expropriation of German farmers in Romania, gave the landless farmers from Lighet land.
The collectivization of agriculture was initiated in the early 1950s . The nationalization law of June 11, 1948 , which provided for the nationalization of all industrial and commercial enterprises, banks and insurance companies, resulted in the expropriation of all commercial enterprises.
Lighed was the official place name until 1964, after which the place was given the name Pădureni. Since January 1, 2004, Pădureni has been an independent municipality by being separated from the municipality of Jebel (Schebel) .
