Stamora Română is a village in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in south-western Romania . Stamora Română belongs to the municipality of Sacoșu Turcesc .

Stamora Română had 324 inhabitants in 2011. Around 1900 the place had more than 1000 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The village is located 20 km southeast of Timişoara and just 10 km south of Timis .

The first documentary mention of the village "Stamur" comes from the year 1407.

Until 1526 the settlement belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and during the Ottoman rule (1526–1718) to the Vilâyet Temeşvar . Stamor is entered on the Josephine land survey of 1717 . From 1718 to 1778 the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The official place name was Román-Sztámora .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three , whereby Stamora-Română fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
