Fârdea (Hungarian: Ferde ) is a Romanian municipality in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in southwest Romania . The villages of Drăgşineşti , Gladna Montană , Gladna Română , Hăuzeşti , Mâtnicu Mic and Zolt also belong to the municipality of Fârdea .

Geographical location

Fârdea is located in the east of Timiș County, in the Poiana-Ruscă Mountains , south of the Surduc reservoir , 40 km from Lugoj , 90 km from Timișoara and 18 km from Făget .

history

In 1361 the place was first mentioned in a Hungarian document under the name Turd . The town of Thwrd appears in the 15th century .

After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Fârdea was part of the Temescher Banat .

On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Fârdea also belongs, fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
