Ugo Carrega (born August 17, 1935 in Pegli , Genoa , † October 7, 2014 in Milan ) was an Italian graphic artist and poet .

life and work

Ugo Carrega grew up in a suburb of Genoa. He spent 1955 in England and began working as a translator in 1956. In 1963 he brought out the journal Ana Etcetera as editor with poetic-linguistic works. Since 1965 he has been the editor of Tool: Books on symbiotic writing , Bulletin Tool (1968), AAA (1969) and reports from inside (1972).

In 1966 Carrega moved to Milan . The cultural centers Center Soil (1969), Tool Center (1971), Market Sale (1974) and Euforie Creative (1993) were founded by Carrega.

The La Nuova Scrittura / New Writing manifesto was signed in 1975 by Ugo Carrega, Martino and Anna Oberto, Corrado D'Ottavi, Rolando Mignani and Liliana Landi, Vincenzo Ferrari and Vincenzo Accame . In 1982 Carrega developed the idea for Artscripture and wrote a manifesto, which was supported by Vincenzo Ferrari, Luca Maria Patella and Magdalo Mussio.
