The Ulanbuh Desert or Ulan Buh ( 乌兰布 和 沙漠 , Wulanbuhe Shamo ) is located in the eastern part of the Alxa Desert in the area of the Alxa and Bayan Nur in Inner Mongolia of the People's Republic of China . In the north it extends to the Lang Shan ( 狼山 ), in the northeast it extends to the Hetao Plain (Hetao pingyuan 河套 平原 ), in the east it borders the Yellow River , in the south it extends to the northern slopes of the Helan Shan ( 贺兰 山 ). Their area is 10,300 square kilometers.
In the circle Dengkou is located Experimental Center for Desert Forestry of China Fortstwirtschaftsakademie ( 中国林科院沙漠林业实验中心 , Zhongguo left yuan Shamo Linye shiyan zhongxin , English Experimental Center of Desert Forestry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry ).
