Mark Raymond (born May 2, 1979 in Alexandra ) is a former Australian biathlete and cross-country skier .

Mark Raymond starts for the Victorian Biathlon Association and is trained by Paul Connor and Kevin Booth. He has been involved in biathlon since 1995 and has been a member of the Australian national team since 2000. The sports soldier made his debut in the Biathlon European Cup in Windischgarsten in 2002 as 57th in sprint and pursuit . In Gurnigel he achieved his best results in this competition with the ranks 31st in the sprint and 30th in the pursuit in the same season. Shortly before that, Raymond made his debut in Oberhof in the Biathlon World Cup , where he was 94th in the sprint. A little later he was 67th in the sprint in Lahti . So far, he has not been able to surpass this ranking. In the same place he also started for the first time at the 2004 Biathlon World Championships . Here he only competed in the individual and was 105. He achieved his greatest success at the pre-Olympic test competition in 2004 in Cesana San Sicario . In seventh place he left starters like Ricco Gross , Sergej Tschepikow , Pawel Rostowzew and Ole Einar Bjørndalen far behind. Also in 2005 in Hochfilzen , 2007 in Antholz , 2008 in Östersund and 2009 in Pyeongchang Raymond started at the biathlon world championships . He achieved his best results in 2007 as 77th in the individual and 87th in the sprint. The Australian has been participating in the World Cup regularly since 2005. He is the best Australian athlete in the sport of the 2000s.

In addition to biathlon, Raymond also does cross-country skiing. In this sport he has not yet started in the World Cup , but since 2001 he has contested a notable number of races in the Continental Cup , the Alpine Cup , the Australia / New Zealand Cup and FIS races . The best results were second places in 2005 in Perisher Valley in the Australia / New Zealand Cup. The greatest success in this sport was participation in the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec . He contested the 50-kilometer race and, to the great applause of the fans on the home straight, reached the finish line with a clear gap of almost 25 minutes on rank 55 as the last cross-country skier not lapped out of the race. Raymond resigned after the 2010 biathlon race in Antholz .
