Uli Märkle

Uli Märkle (born August 21, 1938 in Tübingen ; † January 29, 2005 in Vienna ) was a producer of classical music.

Life

From 1972 to 1983 he was "managing director world-wide" of two departments of the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft in Hamburg : "Public Relations and Press" and "Classical Artist Promotion". As such, he was responsible for over 100 classical music artists.

He was then legal advisor and general manager of Herbert von Karajan's film, TV and video production Télémondial SAM, Monaco. In the last years of Herbert von Karajan's life , he was his personal advisor, accompanying him on all trips and at all festivals, such as the Berlin Festival, the Osaka Festival, the Suntory Hall Festival and many more.

Uli Märkle was responsible for the production of 45 TV and video films with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra .

He was also the initiator and longstanding artistic advisor of the Herbert von Karajan Center in Vienna and a supporter of the American Austrian Foundation as a board member.

Märkle was buried at the Pötzleinsdorfer Friedhof (C-37-359) in Vienna.
