The Ullrich Place is located in the Berlin district of Mahlsdorf . It has been listed as a garden monument in the Berlin Monument List since 1996 . When it was built in 1907, it was named Ullrichsplatz , after the settler Friedrich Ullrichs. In the mid-1920s, the spelling was changed to Ullrichplatz .

history

In 1925/1926, the landscape architect and Greater Berlin City Garden Director Erwin Barth had Ullrichplatz laid out in Mahlsdorf-Süd. Because of the adjacent Bülowstrasse (since 1951: Wilhelm-Blos-Strasse) it was also called Bülowplatz . The 160 m × 53 m large green area is not far from the Hultschiner Damm . It is bounded by Ebereschenallee (north), Ullrichstrasse (east), Akazienallee (south) and Wilhelm-Blos-Strasse (west). With its clear spatial structure and the lush arrangement of flowers and shrubs, Ullrichplatz was in the tradition of the Berlin post-war town squares of the 1920s.

A playground in the north and an elevated seating area in the south were connected to both sides of a central, ground-floor lawn area with flanking beds. The complex is surrounded on all sides by a double-row Gleditschienallee , which gives it a distinctly spatial effect. The division of the area into different functional areas met aesthetic and social design criteria.

At the moment there is hardly anything left to experience of the original splendor of Ullrichplatz. Equipment elements such as benches, pergolas and the extensive shrub plantings are no longer available. However, the basic spatial structure as well as numerous woody plants from the time of origin have been preserved.

With funding from the special children's playground program of the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Science in the amount of 43,000 euros, the playground was partially expanded in 2015. According to the investment planning of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district , 54,000 euros are earmarked for the renovation of the playground in 2019.
