Ulrich Arnold Corti

Ulrich Arnold Corti (born August 16, 1904 in Dübendorf ; † January 12, 1969 ) was a Swiss chemist and ornithologist .

Life

Corti was the son of Arnold Corti and brother of Walter Robert Corti and Wilhelm Corti-Gafafer (* 1907).

Corti worked as the head of a food laboratory at Maggi . From 1946 to 1952 he was the first director of Eawag , from 1952 founder and head of the Institute for Biophysics in Zurich and from 1955 founder and head of his own company which developed electronic devices for measuring the activity of living beings.

In his free time, Corti occupied himself with ornithology and entomology . From 1932 to 1939 he was President of the Swiss Society for Ornithology and Bird Protection . As an editor, he was responsible for the journals Swiss Archive for Ornithology (1932–1949) and Der Ornithologische Beobachter (1935–1939). From 1940 to 1942 he presided over the Entomologia Zurich and from 1965 until his death the Alpine Ornithologist Association Monticola, which he founded .

Ulrich Corti was married to Rita Bebie.
