Ulrich Bürgi

Ulrich Bürgi (born December 25, 1671 in Villingen ; † July 17, 1739 in St. Peter's Monastery in the Black Forest ) was a Benedictine and abbot .

life and work

He made his profession on August 10, 1688 in St. Peter, on May 1, 1696 he celebrated his first Holy Mass . On May 23, 1719 he was elected abbot. At the same time he was prior of St. Ulrich in the Black Forest . Ulrich Bürgi was instrumental in building the new church and library by Peter Thumb . He bought books for the library, but did not live to see them finished. On July 21, 1739 he was buried by Abbot Peter of the St. Märgen Monastery in the crypt he had built at St. Peter.
