Ulrich Meyer (judge)

Ulrich Meyer (born October 28, 1953 in Interlaken ) is a Swiss lawyer . He has been President of the Federal Supreme Court since 2016 . Meyer belongs to the SP .

education

Meyer studied at the University of Bern . In 1979 he obtained an advocate's patent and in 1984 his doctorate . In 1992 he completed his habilitation at the University of Zurich . Meyer is an adjunct professor there .

Professional activities

Meyer was a civil servant in the Federal Office of Justice until 1981 . He then worked as a clerk at the Federal Insurance Court . On October 1, 1986, he was elected a member of the Federal Insurance Court; there he held the position of President in 1998 and 1999. Meyer was Vice President of the Federal Supreme Court from 2013 to 2016 and was elected President in 2016. On December 12, 2018, Meyer was confirmed as President by the Federal Assembly for a further two-year term.
