Ulrich Schmidt-Denter

Ulrich Schmidt-Denter (born April 8, 1946 in Sydow ) is a German psychologist .

Life

After graduating in psychology from the University of Cologne in 1973, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Düsseldorf from 1973 to 1977 . After receiving his doctorate in 1977 as Dr. phil. In Düsseldorf he was a research assistant at the Institute for Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Düsseldorf from 1977 to 1983 . After completing his habilitation in 1983 ( Venia legendi for the subject of psychology), University of Düsseldorf. From 1983 to 1984 he held the chair (C4) for developmental psychology at Bielefeld University . From 1984 to 1985 he held the chair (C4) at the Ruhr University Bochum (motivation and development). From 1985 to 1986 he held the chair (C4) for developmental psychology at the University of Cologne. From 1986 to 2011 he taught as a university professor (C4) for psychology with a focus on developmental and educational psychology at the University of Cologne .

One focus of his academic work is family and divorce research. He led a long-term study in Cologne on the development of family relationships after a separation or divorce. Other research focuses include identity development, social development, pre-school education and systems theory.

Schmidt-Denter is the coordinator of the Humboldt Society for the 2019-2021 term of office.
