Ulrich Streeck

Ulrich Streeck (born March 12, 1944 in Lamspringe ) is a German psychiatrist , psychotherapist , sociologist and social psychologist who emerged from his work on the integration of interactionist sociology into psychotherapy and the development of the psychoanalytical-interactional method.

Life

Streeck studied medicine at the Universities of Marburg, Düsseldorf and Göttingen and, following his doctorate, sociology and social psychology in his second degree. The training to become a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist took place in parallel with further training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy.

In 1983 Streeck was habilitated with a psychosomatic topic at the University of Düsseldorf ( Heigl-Evers ) and in 1989 was appointed as an adjunct professor for psychotherapy and psychosomatics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In 1985 Streeck took over the management of the Lower Saxony State Hospital Tiefenbrunn , a large psychotherapeutic clinic sponsored by the State of Lower Saxony with a psychodynamic-psychoanalytic focus in Mengershausen . From 1987 to 1992 Streeck was a member of the executive board of the umbrella society of psychoanalysts in Germany ( German Society for Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Depth Psychology DGPT eV ) and from 1990 to 1992 chairman of the society. He was chairman of the association of leading doctors of psychotherapeutic-psychosomatic hospitals and departments in Germany.

From 1985 to 2015 he was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lindau Psychotherapy Weeks .

Streeck published numerous papers on the clinic and treatment of severe mental disorders, especially developmental disorders of the personality ( personality disorders , so-called structural disorders) and on psychoanalytical-interactional psychotherapy, which focuses on interpersonal relationships and social interaction.
