Ulrika Nisch
Ulrika Nisch , also Ulrika von Hegne SCSC (born September 18, 1882 in Oberdorf as Franziska Nisch ; † May 8, 1913 in Hegne ) was a religious sister of the congregation of the Ingenbohl Sisters. She is venerated as a blessed in the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Franziska Nisch grew up in a poor family. The father hired himself as a day laborer . When Franziska was six years old, Ulrich Nisch recognized paternity. The family moved to Lower Stadium . 13 more siblings were born. She is described as pious and joyful; as a teenager she often went to prayer at the Maria Schnee chapel in the Unterstadion. Franziska left school at the age of twelve and found a job as a maid for a family of teachers in Switzerland, but fell seriously ill and was cared for by the Ingenbohl sisters. During this time she made the decision to join this congregation herself.
At the age of 22 she entered the Hegne monastery on the shores of Lake Constance. She received the religious name Ulrika when she was dressed and made profession in 1907 . As the second kitchen sister, she later worked in Bühl and Baden-Baden. During this time she spent many hours in contemplation and prayer. In 1912 she returned to Hegne, seriously ill with tuberculosis , where she spent the last months of her life in the nurses' hospital. Sister Ulrika died on May 8, 1913 at the age of 30. Her grave is in the crypt of the Hegne monastery.
beatification
The process of beatification for Sr. Ulrika began in 1951 and was declared complete by Pope John Paul II on the solemnity of All Saints' Day in 1987 . The invocation and intercession of Sr. Ulrikas is credited with the recovery of a woman from an incurable liver disease.
