Norbert Ruf

Norbert Ruf (* 1933 in Karlsruhe ; † October 22, 2012 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a Catholic clergyman and canon lawyer . For more than 25 years he was an official of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .

Life

Norbert Ruf was ordained a priest in 1957 . After pastoral work in Villingen , he continued his studies at the University of Freiburg , where he was assistant at the chair for canon law. In 1961 he was promoted to Dr. theol. obtained his doctorate and took over the parish in Ebringen in the same year until 1965 and remained there until 1969 as parish administrator. In 1968 he received his doctorate in both rights .

His first job at the church court of the Archdiocese of Freiburg, he became vice-official in 1970 and official in 1979. In 1982 he was appointed papal honorary prelate by Pope John Paul II . He wrote a practice-oriented commentary on the new Codex Iuris Canonici published in 1983 , which became a standard work and saw five editions as well as a licensed edition in the GDR .

Ruf was involved in the beatification and canonization processes of the Archdiocese of Freiburg, for example in the canonization process for Blessed Bernhard von Baden and as an interrogation judge in the Ulrika Nisch case .

After his retirement in 2004 reputation had continued to work as judges and Church sighted as part of the beatification process for Max Josef Metzger whose literary estate.
