Ulrike Sommer
Ulrike Sommer (born November 27, 1957 in Kassel ) is a German journalist and politician ( SPD ). She worked for various news agencies; she is also one of the few German authors of political thrillers . She is married to Michael Sommer , the former federal chairman of the German Federation of Trade Unions . Before her marriage, Sommer reported for the AP press agency on the topics of secret services, terrorism and trade unions.
From 2006 to 2012, Sommer was a member of the state executive committee of the Berlin SPD . From 2012 to 2016 she was a state treasurer and a member of the state executive board. In the election to the Berlin House of Representatives in September 2011 , she ran as a direct candidate in the constituency Spandau 5 , but could not prevail against Peter Trapp ( CDU ).
Because she suffers from kidney failure , her husband donated one of his kidneys to her in September 2013 .
