Ulrike Stopka

Ulrike Stopka (born February 20, 1954 in Dresden ) has been Professor of Communication Management at the Friedrich List Faculty of Transportation Science at the TU Dresden since 1993 . She is the dean of studies for the bachelor and master degree courses in transportation at her faculty.

Scientific career

After graduating from high school in 1972, Ulrike Stopka began her studies at the University of Transport (HfV) specializing in communications economics, which she graduated with a diploma in 1976 . She then became a research assistant in this department. After receiving her doctorate in 1981, she moved to the Central Office for Vocational Training of Deutsche Post in Berlin. 1984-1987 she returned for a postgraduate back to the HfV. At this post she received her Facultas Docendi in 1986 . The following year she completed her PhD B to become Dr. sc. oec, which was converted into a habilitation in 1991 after reunification . She then worked in various post and telecommunications offices in Berlin and Dresden before returning to her specialist field in 1988 as a university lecturer at the HfV. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she did a teaching and research stay at the University of Bayreuth in 1990/91 , before taking over the management of the Institute for Post and Telecommunications at the University of Transport in 1991. After this university was split up into the Dresden University of Technology and Economics (HTW) and the Faculty of Transportation Sciences at the TU Dresden in 1992 , she took on the position of professor for business administration at the HTW. The following year she was offered the chair for communications management, which she still holds today.

Ulrike Stopka is a member of the Federal Association for Fiber Optic Connection eV, the Munich Circle for Communication Research, the Saxon Telecommunications Center and on the jury of the Vodafone Foundation for Research in Mobile Communication.
