The Ulungur Lake is located in northern Xinjiang in county fuhai county and is the largest lake in northern China and the tenth-largest Trinkwassersee .
It is fed by the Ulungur River, covers a total of 827 square kilometers and is 468 m above sea level. A canal has existed since 1969 that brings water from the Irtysh to the lake.
There is some tourism in the northeast of the lake . There are several water sports attractions on the ten kilometer long sandy beach ; there is ice fishing in winter .
There is a cement factory on the south-west bank .
