The Kühmoos substation is operated by Schluchseewerk AG and is one of the largest substations in Germany. It is located in the Baden-Württemberg district of Waldshut near the Jungholz district of Rickenbach and was built in 1966/67. It consists of a 380 kV - 220 kV and a part of the system, which via a 660- MVA - transformer bank are linked. Through the substation Kühmoos in the is underground power plants Bad Säckingen and defense power generated in the power grid fed. The load distribution control room is also located on the substation area.
