The Unai Pass has a peak height of 3300 m and overcomes the Sanglach Mountains of the Hindu Kush in the Afghan province of Wardak .
It lies west of Kabul and forms the main connection between Kabul and Hazarajat . The pass is about 80 kilometers from Kabul and lies between Jalrez and Gardandiwal . The road continues to Gardandiwal to the 3700 m high Hajigak pass .
The Kabul River rises in the Sanglach Mountains not far from the Unai Pass, as is the longest river in Afghanistan, the Hilmend, at 1125 km .
