Unchehara or Uchahera is a small town with around 20,000 inhabitants in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh . The city is the capital of the municipality of the same name ( tehsil ).

Unchehara lies at an altitude of approx. 330 m above sea level. d. M. in the northern reaches of Vindhyagebirges about 430 km (driving distance) northeast of Bhopal , the capital of Madhya Pradesh, and about 30 km southwest of the district capital Satna in the valley of - water-bearing only after heavy or prolonged rainfall - river Barha . The city also has a regional train station. The climate is warm; Rain falls almost only during the monsoon months from June to October.
population
The mostly Hindi-speaking population of the place consists of approx. 86.5% Hindus and approx. 13% Muslims ; Members of other religious communities ( Sikhs , Jains , Christians ) form small minorities.
economy
The villages belonging to the municipality are almost exclusively agrarian oriented; Bush forest also grows in parts of the municipality. Craftsmen, traders and service providers of all kinds have settled in the city.
history
Little is known about the history of the place: Since the 14th century the place was the center of a princely state , which was later renamed Nagod after the new capital .
Attractions
The city itself has no sights of historical or cultural importance. However, both the remains of the Buddhist stupa of Bharhut and the Gupta temple of Bhumara (or Bhummra ) are in the community area.
