The 15th studio album by German pop singer Matthias Reim is infinite . It was published on January 25, 2013 in Germany by Electrola ( EMI ) and shortly afterwards in Austria and Switzerland .

Emergence

Matthias Reim began working on the album after he had written some works for his ex-girlfriend, the pop singer Michelle , and then wanted to continue his own career. While recording, he felt an immense pressure to succeed, also due to the fact that he had only released his comeback album Sieben Leben in 2010, with which he had worked his way up again after the financial crash in the 1990s and the private bankruptcy in 2006. The work on the album took almost a year and a half, hence the title Infinite .

The album contains a few cover songs, with Reim in particular falling back on Vorwende tracks by East German rock groups. The album features successful titles from City , Karat , Karussell , Michael Barakowski and the Puhdys , with only the first two bands mentioned on the regular edition, the others only on the deluxe edition. An English version of the City title Am Fenster was also published on the Deluxe Edition under the title Windows in the Sky . Rhyme came up with these songs during his touring in eastern Germany.

Music genre

On his first album in a year and a half, Matthias Reim focused mainly on rock sounds. Nevertheless, the typical hit elements, i.e. keyboard and synthesizer sounds, are present. However, he also tried to work with computer-based elements and even added reggae beats to the song Blinder Passenger . For later live performances, he played the more computer-based songs in rock versions. The album is a rather faster work by Reim, but it also contains two ballads with the carat classics Schwanenkönig and Over seven bridges you have to go . The lyrics are almost exclusively about relationships and love.
