The União das Freguesias de Barbacena e Vila Fernando is a Portuguese municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) Elvas in the Alto Alentejo , Portugal .

history

The municipality was created in the course of the regional reform of September 29, 2013 by merging the former municipalities of Barbacena and Vila Fernando .

Barbacena became the seat of the new administration.
