Floorball World Championship 2016 / qualification

Several qualifying tournaments were held for the 11th Floorball World Cup in 2016 in Riga , Latvia. The qualifying tournaments took place from February 2, 2016 to February 14, 2016.

Overview

Host Latvia is directly qualified for the finals in Riga. The remaining 32 teams played in continental qualifying tournaments for the other 15 starting places. The places were distributed as follows:

• Europe: 11 participants including host Latvia
• Asia and Oceania: 3 participants
• America: 2 participants

Europe

Four tournaments were played in Europe. They qualified for the finals

• the two best-placed teams
• the two best third place finishers of all European qualifying tournaments.

Since the tournament groups consisted of five and six participants, the games against the last placed team were not taken into account when determining the best third place in the groups of six. The following criteria then applied:

1. Average score
2. Average goal difference
3. Average goals scored
4. Lottery procedure

Asia and Oceania

The Asian qualifying group games took place in Pattaya ( Thailand ) from February 2 to 6, 2016 . For the first time there is a play-off round after a group phase, which is due to the increased number of participating countries from five to seven. The top three teams qualified for the finals. In addition, the qualification also serves as the Asia-Pacific Championship.
