The Unilever House has been the headquarters of Unilever Germany in Hamburg's HafenCity since September 17, 2009 . The name was carried over from the old company headquarters on Valentinskamp in Neustadt , which was converted into the Emporio high-rise .

construction

The building, which was built between 2007 and 2009 according to the drafts of Behnisch architects, was one of the first in the Strandkai district , is located directly on the Norderelbe , west of the Hamburg Cruise Center HafenCity , and forms an ensemble with Marco, who also goes back to Behnisch architects -Polo-Tower . It is an innovative office building that takes into account the principles of sustainable architecture and is built over six levels around a glass-roofed atrium. The glass facade is covered by a shell made of ETFE foilsreinforced and should protect the office areas from sun and wind loads. The futuristic-looking exterior is also described as an "oversized air cushion". The ground floor is designed as a publicly accessible space, in which there are shops and a café that sell the Group's products.

Awards

The building received several awards, including the World Architecture Festival Award 2009 as the best office building, third place in the Prime Property Award 2010 and the Hamburg Architecture Prize 2010.
