Union 05 Kayl-Tétange ( Luxembourg : Union 05 Käl / Téiteng ) is a Luxembourg football club from the municipality of Kayl .

history

The club was founded in 2005 as a merger of the two clubs FC Jeunesse Kayl 07 (founded in 1907) and SC Tétange (founded in 1914).

Predecessor clubs

FC Jeunesse Kayl 07

Jeunesse Kayl 07 was founded in 1907. During the German occupation of Luxembourg , the club was forcibly renamed SV 07 Wacker Kayl . In 1944 it was renamed back to the founding name. Until the merger in 2005, Jeunesse Kayl belonged to the second-highest division for six seasons . At the time of the merger, the club was fifth class.

SC Tétange

The SC Tétange was founded in 1914. Between 1940 and 1944 it was forcibly renamed FK Tetingen . Between 1947 and 1961, the SC Tétange played consistently first class, with the exception of the 1955/56 season. In 1969 he was promoted back to the National Division , which the SCT had to leave in 1973. In the following years the club rose to the fifth class (1992). In the last season before the merger, SC Tétange played in the fourth-class 2nd division. The greatest success in the club's history was winning the Luxembourg club cup in 1951. The first of two finals against CS Grevenmacher ended 1-1 after extra time. SC Tétange won the replay 2-0.

After the merger

In 2011, within just six years of the merger, they were promoted from the fourth-class 2nd division to the BGL Ligue . After relegation was achieved with an 11th place in the promotion season, relegation followed a year later as bottom of the table. After three years in the honorary doctorate, Kayl-Tétange had to relegate to the third-class 1st division in 2016, but managed to get promoted again with a 2-1 win in the barrage game against the 12th of the honorary doctorate FC Monnerich . At the end of the 2017/18 season, he was relegated again from the honorary doctorate.
