Diogo Reesink

Diogo Johannes Antonius Reesink OFM (born July 28, 1934 in Heerlen , Netherlands ; † May 30, 2019 in Divinópolis ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic bishop from Teófilo Otoni , Brazil.

Life

Diogo Reesink joined the order of the Franciscans in 1956 , made his profession on February 2, 1960, and was ordained a priest on July 15, 1962 . From 1970 to 1979 he was Minister Provincial of his order in the province of Santa Cruz.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Almenara on August 2, 1989 . The Bishop of Divinópolis , Cristiano Portela de Araújo Pena , donated him episcopal ordination on October 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Serafím Fernandes de Araújo , Archbishop of Belo Horizonte , and Arnaldo Ribeiro , Archbishop of Ribeirão Preto .

On March 25, 1998 he was appointed Bishop of Teófilo Otoni by John Paul II . On November 25, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.

He died in the Franciscan convent in Divinópolis and was buried in the cemetery of the religious province in Ribeirão das Neves .
