Waldemar Chaves de Araújo

Waldemar Chaves de Araújo (born July 23, 1934 in Bom Despacho ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of São João del-Rei .

Life

Waldemar Chaves de Araújo was ordained a priest on September 22, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Teófilo Otoni on November 18, 1989 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carlo Furno , donated him episcopal ordination on February 3 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Belchior Joaquim da Silva Neto CM , Bishop of Luz , and Fernando Antônio Figueiredo OFM , Bishop of Santo Amaro .

On June 26, 1996 he was appointed bishop of São João del-Rei. On May 26, 2010 Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
