United Metallurgical Company ( Russian Объединенная металлургическая компания , or OMK for short) is a Russian steel manufacturer and metal processor based in Moscow . It is Russia's and also Europe's largest manufacturer of large pipes , wheel tires and springs for vehicle construction and the second largest manufacturer of pipes in general. The capacity is 2 million t of large pipes, 850,000 wheel tires and 90,000 leaf and coil springs per year.
Among other things, OMK manufactured the pipelines for Nord Stream , South Stream and the ESPO pipeline.
The largest location with 13,500 employees is Wyksa , where a mini-mill , a continuous casting plant and a hot rolling mill for heavy plate production are located. In addition, there spirally welded pipes and railway wheels produced.
OMK was founded in 1992 by Anatoli Sedych , who is still chairman of the board today.
