geography

Blagoveschensk is located in the southern Ural foothills , about 40 km north of the republic capital Ufa on the Belaya , a left tributary of the Kama . The city should not be confused with the capital of the same name in the Amur Oblast in the Far East of Russia.

Blagoveshchensk is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .

history

The place was established in 1756 with the opening of the Blagoweschtschenski Sawod copper works and received city rights in 1941.
