Bakaly ( Russian Бакалы́ ; Bashkir Баҡалы , Baqalı ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia with 9568 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is about 150 km as the crow flies west-northwest of the republic capital Ufa on the left bank of the left Belaya tributary Sjun .

Bakaly is the administrative center Rajons Bakalinski and seat of the rural community selsowet (selskoje posselenije) Bakalinski, (km south 5) which also includes the villages of Novye Balykly, Plodojagodnaja (4 km south-southeast), Sosnowka (3 km south-east, formerly (Bakalinski) Leschos ) Starokujanowo (8 km south-south-east), Tokberdino (7 km south-east) and Urman (3 km south-east, formerly Dom Inwalidow ) belong.

About half of the population are Tatars , a fifth each is Russian and Bashkir .

history

The place was founded by the Bashkirs at the beginning of the 18th century. In the course of the century, the area was one of the centers of Christianization of non-Russian ethnic groups in the region, including the Tatars known as "Krjashen", whose members also settled in Bakaly and still make up the majority of the population today. From 1773 the village was the seat of a Wolost , which from 1782 belonged to the newly formed Ujesd Belebei . This was initially part of the governorship of Ufa , from 1796 of the Orenburg governorate ; In 1865 he came to the newly founded Ufa governorate .

After the establishment of the Bashkir ASSR in 1919 and the dissolution of the Ufa governorate, the town and the Volost came to the Belebei canton on July 18, 1922. With the dissolution of the cantons on August 20, 1930, the new Bakalinski rajon based in Bakaly was expelled.

From Bakaly in a southerly direction the regional road 80K-002 leads via Tuimasy to Belebei, which crosses the federal trunk road M5 Ural from Moscow via Samara to Chelyabinsk south of Tuimasy . Tuimasy is also a good 60 km away from the nearest train station on the Ulyanovsk  - Tschischmy (- Ufa) line.

To the east is the regional road 80K-008 over the adjacent Rajonzentrum Chekmagush connection to the federal highway M7 Volga (Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod  - Kazan  - Ufa) at Kushnarenkovo , just north over the 80N-005 to neighboring Rajonzentrum Werchnejarkejewo .
