Krasnoussolski ( Russian Красноусо́льский ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Bashkortostan ( Russia ) with 11,991 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located in the southwestern part of the Urals , which here has heights of up to 700 meters. It is about 100 kilometers (as the crow flies) in a south-easterly direction from the republic capital Ufa and is located on the Ussolka, a small right tributary of the Belaja .

Krasnousolsky is the administrative center of the Rajons Gafurijski .

The Kurort Krasnoussolsk district is five kilometers northeast .

history

The place was created in 1752 in connection with the establishment of the Bogojawlensk copper works (Bogojawlenski medeplawilny zavod) (from Russian Bogojawlenije for apparition of the Lord ). Sodium chloride and partially hydrogen sulfide as well as radon- containing medicinal water springs have been known on the Ussolka above the present-day settlement since the 16th century . At first they were mainly used for the production of table salt . This is also indicated by the name of the river, Ussolka from Russian sol for salt .

In 1762 the Saint Petersburg academician and explorer Pyotr Rytschkow first pointed out the healing potential of mineral water in his Orenburg topography , and in 1802 by the doctor and naturalist Ivan Lepjochin .

However, a health resort only came into being after the October Revolution , after it was decided in 1922 to build a sanatorium “for workers” and has been continuously expanded since then. In 1923, instead of the original name of religious origin, the place received the current one after the river with the prefix krasno- , Russian for red - in its ideological meaning, and a few years later the status of an urban-type settlement .

On August 20, 1930 Krasnousolsky administrative center of the newly formed Rajons same name in 1940 after the baschkirisch- was Tatar literary Maschit Gafuri in Gafurijski has been renamed.

The copper smelter had already been converted into a glass factory in 1893. After the beginning of the war against the Soviet Union in 1941, the equipment of a glass factory was evacuated from Gomel in Belarus to Krasnoussolski.

As part of the reform of local self-government, the place lost the status of an urban-type settlement in 2004 and has been a rural settlement again since then.
