Ivan Lepyokhin ( Russian Иван Иванович Лепёхин , scientific. Transliteration Ivan Ivanovich Lepëchin ; born September 10, jul. / 21st September  1740 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † April 6 jul. / 18th April  1802 greg. ) Was a Russian doctor , botanist , zoologist and explorer . Its botanical author abbreviation is “ Lepech. "

Live and act

Lepjochin traveled the coastal area between the White Sea and the Kanin peninsula and explored the living conditions of the population as well as the fauna and flora.

Honors

The plant genera Lepechinia Willd. from the family of mint (Lamiaceae) and Lepechiniella Popov from the family of Borage Family (Boraginaceae) have been named in his honor. He is also the namesake for the Lepjochin Glacier in Antarctica.
