Chekmagush ( Russian Чекмагу́ш ; Bashkir Саҡмағош , Saqmağoş; Tatar Чакмагыш , Çakmagış ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia with 11,382 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 100 km as the crow flies northwest of the republic capital Ufa . It is located on the river of the same name, which flows off via Kalmaschka and Tschermassan to Belaya, which runs a good 40 km to the east .

Chekmagush administrative center is the Rajons Tschekmaguschewski and seat of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Tschekmaguschewski selsowet, (km northwest 4 the center) (4 km north) (km southeast 6) are among the also the villages Igentsche, Narimanowo and Resmekejewo.

Over 60% of the population are Tatars , almost a third are Bashkirs .

history

The place has been known since the end of the 16th century. Since August 20, 1930, Chekmagush has been the seat of a district administration.

At Chekmagush, the regional roads 80K-008 cross from the neighboring district center of Kuschnarenkowo to the east (on the federal trunk road M7 Volga ) to the neighboring district of Bakaly to the west and 80N-012, which connects the southern M5 Ural near Busdjak with the M7 near Djurtjuli .
