Baimak ( Russian Байма́к , Bashkir Баймаҡ / Bajmaq ) is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan ( Russia ) with 17,710 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The city is located on the eastern flank of the Southern Urals , about 490 km south of the republic capital Ufa on the Tanalyk , a right tributary of the Urals .

Baimak is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .

history

Baimak was established in 1913 as a settlement near a gold and copper mine and received town charter in 1938.
