Tolbasy ( Russian Толбазы́ ; Bashkir Талбазы ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia with 10,114 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is about 80 km as the crow flies south of the republic capital Ufa and 35 km north of the city Sterlitamak . It is located near the upper reaches of the Aurgasy, a tributary of the left Belaya -Nebenflusses Urschak .

Tolbasy is the administrative center of the Rajons Aurgasinski and seat of the rural community selsowet (selskoje posselenije) Tolbasinski, (km 7 west-northwest) which also includes the villages Alekseyevka, Julamanowo (4 km west-northwest), Kultura (6 km southwest), Nikolsk (7 km west-southwest) and Tschulpan (8 km south) belong.

history

The place arose on the postal route from Ufa to Orenburg was first mentioned in 1747. Its name possibly goes back to the Tatar name of a place with willows (Tatar тал , tal ).

In 1930 the village came to the newly formed Nowokaramalinski rajon, whose administration was initially located in the eponymous village of Nowyje Karamaly , 5 km to the northeast . In 1940 the Rajon got its current name after the river and its administrative seat was moved to Tolbasy.

Tolbasy is bypassed to the east by the federal trunk road R240 (formerly R314), which connects Ufa with Orenburg. At the village the regional road 80-K028 branches off, which leads in an easterly direction via Beloje Osero , where the nearest train station on the Ufa - Orenburg route is just 25 km away, to the neighboring district center of Krasnoussolski .
