Universal City is a parish in Los Angeles County in the US state of California . The 415 hectare site is owned by Universal Studios .
Universal City is home to some NBCUniversal office buildings and backdrops , Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal CityWalk , Universal City's shopping and entertainment center. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department provides police protection on site with a police station on CityWalk. In addition, the Los Angeles County Fire Department provides fire protection with the only publicly funded fire station on private territory in the USA.
