The University of Niš ( Serbian : Универзитет у Нишу / Univerzitet u Nišu) is a state university in Serbia with 27,000 students, 1,410 academic employees and is based in the city of Niš . It was founded in 1965 and is now divided into 13 faculties .

history

The university was built on June 15, 1965 due to the need to support prospective academics in the region. At that time the university had three faculties. It was filled with 234 full-time teachers. Initially 6,800 students went to the university.

Due to the increasing population in the region, the university was expanded by setting up new faculties.

Faculties

At the beginning of the third millennium, the university is a medium-sized and well-developed academic community. It consists of 13 faculties:

Eleven of the faculties are located in Niš. The Faculty of Technology is in Leskovac , the Pedagogical Faculty is in Vranje .

By 2002 the number of teaching staff had increased to 1,410 and the number of students was around 27,000, including 433 foreign students.
